Process

Nomination received (sent by e-mail via [email protected] or faxed to 905-845-6475).
Nominee submits information package (business summary & answers to category questions).
Judges may visit the nominee if further clarification is required.

Join us at the Nominee Celebration event (qualified Nominees will be advised of the date of the event).
All are welcomed to OABE 18th Annual Gala for the announcement of qualified Nominees and recipient for each category.

Rules: This competition is open to Oakville businesses that have not won in any category in the last 5 years. The business must be physically located in the Town of Oakville. The Judges are looking for excellence in business, not the size of the business.

These are business awards. Therefore the competition is not open to governments, associations, centres or organizations which operate on a not-for-profit basis. The competition is also not open to the Judges or their employers, or to members of the OABE Organizing Committee or their employers or to the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Oakville West or Board of Directors of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce or their employees.

Neither nominees nor nominators need be Rotary Club members or Chamber of Commerce members. Membership in the Rotary Club or the Oakville Chamber of Commerce will not influence the Judges decisions and Judges will not be advised if companies have any relationship with either organization. Judges are impartial and are drawn from the professional community.

The Judges reserve the right to move a nomination to a more appropriate category.
In any given year if a sufficient number of notable nominations are not received in any category, the judges reserve the right to cancel the awarding of that category for that year. At the discretion of the committee, awards may not be distributed in any category with low participation rates.

All eligible nominees will be contacted and invited to qualify for the award competition by submitting information via a questionnaire for the Judges’ consideration. The Judges do not probe commercially sensitive information, but ask nominees general questions such as:

What differentiates you, in your business?
Why do employees want to work for you?
What has been the growth of your business since it was formed?
How do you and your business give back to the community?
How do you demonstrate customer service?
